What goes around comes around...

Let me just get this off my chest: I HATE LIARS.

I'm not going into detail about what happened, but anyone who knows me, knows the only way for me to heal is to write. So that's what I'm doing.

I'm not going into detail about what happened, just needed to express how badly I'm hurting. I hate that I'm always the one on the wrong end of the situation, when others get to be happy and discover how much they love each other at my expense. Wish I could get that time back that I wasted in that.

I'm keeping my head up, drinking a butt load probably over the next few weeks, and getting back out there.

Things can only get better, right?

Latest Rage in Hollywood

So I was looking at the Yahoo style page, and came across an article stating that there was a new dress trending among Hollywood starlets. This is said dress in the Alice + Olivia Spring 2014 collection:

Now don't get me wrong, I dig its uniqueness. It's interesting. I just don't think it's my personal style (believe it or not). Opinions?

GO GREEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm feeling pretty lazy this week with all of the St. Patrick's partying, so I'm just making this week's post a shout out to my university's basketball team in the NCAA tourney today - Michigan State University!

It's been way too long since I've set foot on campus, and miss it dearly. :( Goal for next year: make it to a football or basketball game! I also miss my dear friend, Sparty (whom I used to watch over at various sporting events)! Anywho, best of luck today boys, and let's bring home a championship this year!

GO GREEN, GO WHITE, GO STATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

St. Patrick's Day Featured Drinks!

With St. Patrick's Day right around the corner, I thought it would be fun to put forth a few of my favorite "St. Patty's" go-to's.

Naturally, one drink is synonymous with the day of green and white (and no, that was not an MSU plug for once) - the Irish Car Bomb! Such a classic and delicious drink! Tastes like chocolate milk to me. Yummy!

My favorite liquors for Irish car bombs:
1/2 pint Guinness
1/2 shot Jameson whiskey
1/2 shot Bailey's Irish cream

Another favorite shot of mine is the Girl Scout Cookie (or Dirty Girl Scout for some).

For drink form (1/2 everything for a shot):
1 oz Green Creme de Menthe
1 oz Bailey's Irish Cream
1 oz Kahlua coffee liqueur
1 oz vodka of your choice

I also wanted to include something different that I tried at Bar Louie - it's their Naughty Irish School Girl drink, which even includes a blow pop!

1 oz X-rated fusion liqueur
1 oz Jameson
Grapefruit Juice
Grenadine
Blow Pop

Enjoy St. Paddy's Day everyone, and be safe! :)

Doing St. Patrick's Day the Zara Fashionista Way

As most of my readers know, I have a slight obsession with the Spanish retailer, Zara. I feel like every time someone asks where I got an item of clothing from, the answer is Zara! I love how they always seem to be ahead of the latest trend, while keeping a ton of classic pieces in their collections from season to season. That being said, I've decided to feature some pieces from the Zara spring collection for St. Patty's Day celebration inspiration.

This top caught my eye, because it is quite similar to a Zara top that I own (which I have worn the past two St. Patty's Days!). Its silky texture drapes so nicely, creating a flattering silhouette.

I love having a handful of solid-colored cardigans in my wardrobe. It's so easy to take a plain black or white top, and throw on a colorful cardigan to add a pop of color to a plain outfit.

If you're the more adventurous type, I did find a pair of shamrock-green jeans - I would definitely rock these!

For those of you in chillier climates (I'm talking to you, Michiganders!), this coat is fantastic! It's so bright and cheery!

Now for my favorite part - accessories!

I really like the classic look of these green suede stilettos. Personally, I think they would look fabulous with an all black outfit and a green clutch.

For those of you who are either not into heels, or are too worried about drunkenly walking around  in heels, these green suede flats are perfect.

Finally, this green messenger is perfect for hitting the bars. Swing it over your shoulder, and you're good to go the whole day. No need to worry about losing your purse in a drunken stupor! ;)

That's all for now, have a safe and happy St. Patrick's day!

Galar gan nĂ¡ire an tart! (Celtic for "thirst is a shameless disease.")

Drink and Craft Beer of the Week!

To kick off this week, I have decided to combine the drink of the week and craft beer of the week together. I have to say, the craft beer of the week has been a HUGE hit! Due to that post alone, readership of my blog has gone up by 300%! I'm so flattered, and appreciate your readership! As a bit of a treat, I'm including four drink recommendations total for this week!

For my first offering, I put forth my favorite new creation, the Loopy/Rumchatta/Caramel Vodka martini! Since this is my own creation-ish, I decided not to include exact measurements for the liquor. I just free style with my pours, tweaking it to however I feel that day. Keep in mind - you don't have to use the exact brands I use, these are just my recommendations. :)

Three Olives Loopy vodka
Rumchatta cream liqueur
Smirnoff Caramel vodka

After that sweet martini, I wanted to feature a classic - the original martini. I have been searching for the best recipe out there, and this was what I came out with.

2oz Gin (I recommend Tanqueray)
1oz dry Vermouth (I recommend Martini & Rossi)

Straight: Pour all ingredients into mixing glass with ice cubes. Stir well. Strain in chilled martini cocktail glass. Squeeze oil from lemon peel onto the drink, or garnish with olive.
On the rocks: Pour all ingredients over ice cubes in old-fashioned glass, garnish as above and serve.

For the week's craft beer selections, I've decided to feature a couple Michigan brews.

Going back to my college days, I used to LOVE going to Harper's on Albert in East Lansing. I love how you can sit right at the bar, and watch as their different beers are being brewed. My taste always had me gravitating towards their raspberry wheat beer, which they describe as crisp and light, perfect for the summer season.

For my second selection, I have chosen the All Day IPA from Founders, which is brewed in Grand Rapids, Michigan. To date, I believe this is the only Founders beer I've had (that I can recall at least :/). A good handful of IPA's are too bitter for me to have more than one, but this is quite drinkable. Founders describes it as naturally brewed with a complex array of malts, grains and hops - balanced for optimal aromatics and a clean finish.

Happy drinking, y'all!

New weekly feature - Craft Beer of the Week!

Per the request of a few men who read my blog, I have decided to include a craft beer every week! I honestly cannot believe that I have not thought about this addition myself! I started thinking of which beer I wanted to include in my first entry, and I had to go with a beer from St. Arnold.

I have visited the brewery on Lyons Street countless times, and highly recommend a visit whenever you find some free time during tour hours! It has such a laid back environment, and you can tell everyone enjoys going into work there (are you looking to hire someone in the advertising department, St. Arnold?).

Without further adieu, the first craft beer feature is: St. Arnold Spring Bock!

Per the St. Arnold website: An authentic, German-style Bock, celebrating the coming of spring. This robust, deeply flavored lager has been aged to create a smooth, malty taste with a hint of sweetness. A light addition of German hops balances the malt flavor.

Delicious!

Drink of the Week

With the cold weather as of late, I've decided to make this week's featured drink the Hot Toddy. I know a lot of people swear by this drink as cure for a cold. For me, as far as being a cure goes, the jury's still out. However, it sure is tasty and warms me up!

Hot Toddy recipe:

1 ¼ oz whiskey
1 cup boiling water
1-2 tbsp honey
3 lemon wedges
8-10 whole cloves

ENJOY!
